Thanks Jerry, I got a little excited when I heard about that prize package. I'm the only one that knows about the contest right. icon_smileyevil.jpg

I'll have to throw in a couple of my favorite ways of modifying cranks and sticks. I like to add a second split ring to the tail hook on most baits, to set the rear hook back another 1/4 inch. This helps in hooking short strikes a also in keeping the fish on the hook while landing it. If the fish rolls during the fight, it reduces the leverage that can cause the hook to pull out. The second tip is to remove the tail hook and the rear belly hook. A short bead chain is then attached to the belly hook eye on the lure and the hook attached to the chain. This causes the wabble of the lure to widen and the hook, swinging on the chain acts as an additional attractant. I hope these ideas will help in taking a few more fish for you.

Grumpy

Please be sure to post this in the Tips and Tactics board so it is not over looked when we get ready to vote.
